Sebastian Cabot, as known as Sebastiano Caboto, was an Italian born English explorer who lived from 1474 to 1557 (Sebastian). Sebastian was born to John and Mattea Cabot and had two older brothers Ludovico and Sancto Cabot. From birth he was very well educated, and grew up to be an explorer, cartographer, and navigator. Eventually, Sebastian would marry twice, first to an Italian woman, and then a Spanish woman. He had one daughter with his first wife.
Sebastian is perhaps most famous for his search for the Northwest Passage in North America, his attempts to circumnavigate the entire world, and his explorations in Russia (Sebastian). However, from 1526-1529 Sebastian and the crew explored the Rio de la Plata and Parana River area in current day South America. On that expedition he and his men faced hostile Indians and Sebastian abandoned some of his men after an argument. He eventually returned to Spain when no gold could be found and the expedition was considered to be a failure.
Nevertheless, Sebastian Cabot was seen as one of the best and most well known explorers of his time.
